Every element of a ceremony is carefully planned and selected to express the multitude of emotions those in grief wish to express with love stitched into every word.

As part of our complete funeral planning service, RHEA are pleased to offer bespoke, personalised ceremonies by qualified civil funeral celebrant, Louise O’Brien.

A civil funeral celebrant holds ceremonies outside of a church setting which can meet many personal and emotional needs.  Each ceremony is crafted to honour the values and beliefs of the person who has died while comforting those in mourning.  The content of a ceremony is not prescribed and does not subscribe to any specific belief system.  However, every ceremony finds a way to express and articulate the love with which those gathered wish to remember their loved one.

“As a funeral celebrant I am in the privileged position of holding people in the most painful moments to help them to say goodbye to a loved one through a ceremony that has been crafted with them, to honour and celebrate their loved person.  Every element of a ceremony is carefully chosen to express the multitude of emotions those in grief wish to express with love stitched into every word. The ceremony is for them, about their loved one and enables a personal expression of goodbye in a way that is truthful to them, whatever that may be. My role is to facilitate their preferences and articulate what they may not be able to.”

“I can deliver graveside ceremonies, scattering of ashes and memorial services.  I can hold ceremonies anywhere: at home, in a crematorium, at the graveside, in a funeral home or in any place that’s special to you and your family.  This can include significant and poignant moments, for example, during the visitation, at home if a person is waked there or the moment that a person leaves their home for the last time.  Whenever people might benefit from a moment of pause or reflection a celebrant can hold that moment to support people in their loss.”

A beautiful ceremony consists of some or all of the following elements to capture the persons life, support people emotionally and create meaningful memories that will comfort and console:

  • Bespoke written word including eulogy
  • Carefully chosen readings, poems and texts
  • Relevant and personal musical choices
  • Meaningful rituals

Every ceremony is unique, personalised and created especially for you.
